Botswana Day One:

We had a powerful 9:30 am meeting with the Honorable Kabo Morwaeng, MP - Minister of Presidential Affairs & Public Administration - at the Office of the President.

Everything I wanted to accomplish on our previous visit, by the grace of God, we are able to accomplish this trip!

This meeting ended with an interview with the National News Media of Botswana.

At 1 PM in the afternoon, we met with leading bishops and denominational leaders over lunch.

They are so precious; they asked questions, and I was able to answer them and give them advice and encouragement concerning their role and function in the nation.

After that, we met with the Honorable MP, Dumezdweni Mthimkhulu, Botswana’s Minister of Environment and Tourism.

We had an amazing time as we discussed the complexities and problems facing the nation and strategies and solutions to see a turnaround over the next 36 months.

Tonight, at the beginning of the Holy Ghost & Fire service, we were welcomed by the Gaborone City Council Deputy Mayor Seikise Lotty Manyapetsa.

People came hungry and thirsty for the Word of God; they wanted to be touched by the Holy Spirit. Many were ignited and set ablaze, the altar filled, and they were mobilized to win souls. What a great opening night!

Botswana

Summary:

Botswana is a landlocked country located in southern Africa, bordered by Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. Known for its stable democracy and rich natural resources, particularly diamonds, Botswana has one of Africa’s most robust economies. The capital city is Gaborone, located near the border with South Africa.

Strengths:

Political Stability: Botswana is often cited as one of Africa’s most stable and well-governed countries, with a longstanding democratic tradition.

Economic Strength: Driven by diamond mining, the country has a relatively high GDP per capita compared to other African nations.

Tourism Potential: Renowned for its pristine wilderness areas like the Okavango Delta, Botswana has a burgeoning tourism sector.

Natural Resources: In addition to diamonds, Botswana has significant reserves of other minerals and a burgeoning agricultural sector.

Financial Responsibility: Botswana has been lauded for its prudent fiscal management and relatively low levels of corruption.

Weaknesses:

Economic Dependence: The economy is heavily reliant on diamond mining, making it vulnerable to global market fluctuations.

Unemployment: Despite economic growth, Botswana faces a high unemployment rate, especially among the youth.

Social Inequality: There are notable disparities in income and access to essential services like education and healthcare.

Environmental Concerns: Overgrazing and desertification are ongoing environmental issues affecting agriculture and natural habitats.

Healthcare Challenges: The country has been grappling with a high HIV/AIDS prevalence, although efforts have been made to manage the epidemic.
