River Kids River @ Tampa Bay Church
Sundays during 10:00AM and 7PM services. Wednesday 7PM.
Welcome to River Kids! At River kids we strive to create an exciting and fun environment, where kids are enriched with the Word of God and taught how to live it. Kids are encouraged to develop a hunger for God and the things of God and to allow Him to have His way in their lives. Many of our kids have been deeply touched and changed by the power of God.
We have classes for children from ages 3-5 and 6-12. We also have a nursery, located at the back of the main sanctuary, for toddlers and moms with babies. Our workers not only take care of children ages 1-2, but also spend time teaching them God's Word at their level. Children's ministry is available at the same time as our adult services.
Nursery and Mother's Room available!
There is a Mother's Room available in the nursery for nursing mothers and mothers with children under the age of 1.
Check-in
We offer a secure check-in and check-out system and appoint each child a number that will appear on a screen in the main sanctuary if the child needs his/her parents for any reason.
If you have any questions contact us and let us know that you would like to talk to somebody in the children's ministry.
See you in River Kids! |

PASTOR DAWN SCHEGAR, ASSISTANT PASTOR
Pastor Dawn Schegar is the Children's Church pastor at The River at Tampa Bay.
Pastor Dawn Schegar was born in South Africa and grew up in Zimbabwe. She was originally educated as a pre-school teacher in South Africa and owned and operated two daycare centers, while raising five children. She is trained in the Montessori Method of teaching and is also a Bible School graduate.
One of Pastor Dawn's daycare centers was a full-day facility which she started in 1965 and ran for over 30 years. She, together with her whole family, received Jesus as her Lord and Savior in South Africa in 1979 and she immediately began sharing the Gospel and ministering to the children and the parents. Many were deeply touched by the Lord and some are even in the ministry today!
Pastor Dawn saw Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne in a Youth Meeting in July 1981 and the Holy Spirit spoke to her and said, "Mark that young man." She knew there was something special about him. Fifteen months later, he married Dawn's oldest daughter, Pastor Adonica Howard-Browne. Right about that time, Pastor Dawn started her second school, a Mission School, which she ran for ten years. Pastors Rodney and Adonica ordained Pastor Dawn and in 1998, the Lord opened the door for her to come to America. She knew this was where He wanted her to be.
Pastor Dawn teaches and ministers to the children at The River. She also oversees River Kids staff and volunteers. She counsels and ministers to the parents and is responsible for the acquisition and maintenance of the equipment and the curriculum.
Pastor Dawn has five children, Adonica, Bruce, Colleen, David, and Earl. She also has 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
VISION STATEMENT
To have anointed praise and worship To have anointed offering teachings To share the word and have testimonies To allowing the Holy Spirit to move during the teaching and preaching (While Peter spoke the Holy Ghost fell - Acts 10:44) To flow in the Spirit as they do in "big church" To lay hands on the sick and see them recover To teach Pastor Rodney's teachings on the anointing so that the children, big and small, can understand the anointing and how to flow in it
All teachers and workers must be yielded to the Holy Spirit, be full of the Word of God, be in an attitude of worship and share out of the overflow
No dry boat sitters - only wet water walkers needed.
To teach them using crafts, drama, animation, puppets, and demonstration of the gifts:
1. That God loves them and desires to bless them 2. Who they are in Christ 3. To choose to please God not men 4. How to please God 5. How to yield and receive from Him 6. That God has called and anointed them 7. To be worshipers 8. How to be soul winners 9. How to flow in the gifts of the Spirit 10. To lay hands on the sick 11. To have faith in God-How to believe and trust God 12. To be givers 13. To allow God's word to govern their thoughts, words, and deeds-Jesus is their example 14. To BE the "peer pressure"
