Foundation Scriptures:

And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. 16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.  Luke 4:14-19 KJV

But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. 16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. 17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.  Luke 5:15-17 KJV

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.  1 John 2:20 KJV

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

1 John 2:27 KJV

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.  Isaiah 10:27 KJV

1. The Anointing is the Very Presence of the Holy Spirit.
a. The anointing is tangible.
b. In Mark 5:25-34, the woman touched the hem of His garment – she felt it; He felt it.
c. Virtue (dunamis) flowed out of Him and she was healed.
d.  When the anointing touches you, something will take place.
e. The anointing destroys the yoke.

2. The Anointing in the Gospels.
a. We can learn about the anointing by reading the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
b. Acts 10:38 KJV – “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”
c. Jesus spent thirty years in preparation for three and half years of earthly ministry.
d. He received that anointing as He came up out of the water and the Holy Spirit descended on Him like a dove.
e. Only then, did His early ministry begin.

3. The Anointing on Every Believer.
a. The Well - John 4:10-14
b. The River - John 7:37-39
c. Acts 1:8 KJV – “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

4. Different Kinds of Anointings.
a. Ephesians 4:7 KJV – “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.”
b. Grace to preach, teach, heal, deliver, sing, etc.
c. This anointing is there for every aspect of your life – not just for ministry.
d. Some are anointed to create wealth, etc. (Deuteronomy 8:17)
e. The anointing is for daily life, work, marriage, play, etc.

5. You Must Find Out What You are Anointed to Do – and Do it.
a. Find out what your call is and what your giftings are.
b. Romans 12:4-8 KJV – “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.”
