Foundation Scripture:
And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. 1 Kings 18:41 KJV
1. Rain.
a. In the Bible, rain represents God’s goodness and His provision.
b. It represents life, and that which is life-giving, sustaining, and refreshing.
c. The Lord uses rain to represent both temporal and earthly blessings.
2. Leave Egypt Behind.
a. Deuteronomy 11:7 AMPC –– For your eyes have seen all the great work of the Lord which He did.
b. The Lord reminds Israel how He delivered them from Egypt.
c. Egypt represents the world and the life we left behind when Jesus saved us, washed us in His Blood, forgave our sin, and delivered us from the power of sin and Satan.
d. We have seen and experienced His goodness generously poured out upon us.
e. When we look back, we should look only at what He has done for us and how far He has brought us.
f. Never look back longingly to desire anything of your old life, before Jesus.
3. Obey and Be Blessed.
a. Deuteronomy 11:8 AMPC –– Therefore you shall keep all the commandments which I command you today, that you may be strong and go in and possess the land which you go across [the Jordan] to possess.
b. The Lord’s promise to us is that if we trust His Word and His promises, and if we obey Him and keep His commandments, we will receive all His blessings.
c. His promise is strength and ability; therefore, you will have the power to possess everything that has been made available to you.
d. Not only will you be strong to take territory from the enemy, but you will have the power to keep and retain it.
e. Deuteronomy 11:9 AMPC –– And that you may live long in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give to them and to their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey.
f. God’s promise is a land flowing with milk and honey—representing abundant provision—every need met and overflowing.
g. God’s promise is a long and healthy life, so that you can enjoy all He has generously provided.
4. Not By Your Own Strength.
a. Deuteronomy 11:10 AMPC –– For the land which you go in to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you came out, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your foot laboriously as in a garden of vegetables.
b. In Egypt, they had to work to bring the water from the river to their crops.
c. But the Lord promised them His rain from Heaven.
d. Without Jesus, we have to work by the sweat of our own brow.
e. We have to struggle like Adam, after he fell from grace (Genesis 3:17-19).
f. Because the ground was cursed, he had to sweat and toil to produce what he needed to survive.
g. He had to battle thistles and thorns and struggle against the elements.
h. Even that which he managed to produce would not bring satisfaction, nor meet every need.
i. Only by fully serving God and honoring Him in every area of life, will we have access to all He has promised.
j. It is a walk of faith (Heb. 10:38).
k. We cannot do it in our own strength or ability.
5. The Land of Promise and Plenty.
a. Deuteronomy 11:11-12 AMPC –– But the land which you enter to possess is a land of hills and valleys which drinks water of the rain of the heavens, 12 A land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always upon it from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.
b. The land that the Lord has for us is a good land.
c. He rains down upon this land and it becomes abundantly fruitful.
d. It is a land that He watches over and takes care of from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.
e. He promises to never take His eyes off you.
f. He will never fail you or let you down, nor cease to protect and sustain you.
6. Satisfied With His Goodness.
a. Deuteronomy 11:13-15 AMPC –– And if you will diligently heed My commandments which I command you this day — to love the Lord your God and to serve Him with all your [mind and] heart and with your entire being — 14 I will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. 15 And I will give grass in your fields for your cattle, that you may eat and be full.
b. When you allow the Lord to have His way in your life, and you walk in faith and obedience, you will reap His goodness.
c. You will enjoy harvests you did not plant.
d. You will live in houses you did not build.
e. Deuteronomy 6:11 AMPC –– And houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and cisterns hewn out which you did not hew, and vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and when you eat and are full.
f. When the Lord brings us into our inheritance as His child, He gives us dominion—great and good cities, already built (Deut. 6:10).
g. He promises houses that are already built and stocked full of good things.hi. He promises wells already dug and vineyards and olive yards already planted and fruitful.
i. He will bless you with business and income.
j. You can claim His promises and expect His blessings as long as you continue to honor Him and involve Him in all that you do.
