The Possession and the Purpose
Foundation Scriptures:
Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. Joshua 1:3 KJV
And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers. Deuteronomy 6:23 KJV
1. It Is Time to Possess.
a. 2027 is our year of Possessing the Land.
b. Last time, we established four foundational truths: we must know what God has given us, fill our hearts and mouths with His Word, refuse fear, and prepare ourselves to obey His instructions.
c. The Lord has redeemed us through Jesus Christ for a purpose.
d. He has blessed us so that we can be a blessing.
e. He has filled us with the Holy Ghost so that we can be His witnesses and accomplish His will.
f. We must move beyond simply hearing the promises to believing, obeying, and walking in what God has provided.
g. Possessing the land is not only about what we receive; it is about what we accomplish for the Kingdom of God.
2. Step Out in Faith and Take Possession.
a. Joshua 1:3 KJV –– Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
b. Israel had God’s promise, but they had to move forward and take possession.
c. Faith requires corresponding action.
d. Your obedience demonstrates your confidence in God’s Word.
e. James 2:17 KJV –– Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
f. Faith is not passive but responds to what God has said.
g. There comes a time to stop just talking and start doing.
h. It could be answering the call to ministry; starting a business; sharing the Gospel; or stepping into a new responsibility.
i. Identify the next step of obedience the Lord has placed before you.
j. Make the necessary preparation and act on His direction.
k. Do not allow fear, delay, or the opinions of others to hinder you.
l. Obedience requires courage and perseverance, but His grace is sufficient for you.
3. Trust His Provision and Steward the Land.
a. Deuteronomy 11:12 KJV –– A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
b. God did not bring Israel into a forgotten, abandoned land.
c. The Promised Land is a place of fruitfulness, provision, and blessing.
d. The Lord requires that we love and serve Him, remain attentive to His Word, and be responsible for cultivating and stewarding what He gives us.
e. Deuteronomy 8:18 KJV –– But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
f. God gives us the ability to prosper and enjoy the fruit of our labor, if we acknowledge Him as our source and supply.
g. Honor the Lord with your work, your resources, your family, and your decisions.
h. Work diligently; be generous; ask for His wisdom; expect His blessing whilst remaining faithful stewards of what He provides and places in your hands.
i. Believe Him for increase and fruitfulness and glorify Him by giving back into His Kingdom and blessing others.
4. Carry the Gospel into the Land.
a. Acts 1:8 KJV –– But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
b. Under the New Covenant, our assignment is to take territory by carrying the Gospel of Jesus Christ into the world through the power of the Holy Ghost.
c. We possess the land by reaching people, preaching the Gospel, making disciples, and advancing the Kingdom of God.
d. The harvest is ready, and every believer has a part in reaching people with the love, compassion, and power of God—wherever you are and wherever you are sent.
e. Pray for people; share your testimony; tell them what Jesus has done; give them an opportunity to receive Him; follow up with them and help them become established in the Word.
f. There is also a place for every believer to serve in the church.
g. Every act of faithful service helps make room for people to encounter Jesus.
h. Use the gifts and opportunities God has placed in your hands.
i. Let your home become a place where people experience God’s love.
j. Let your business become a place where your life and testimony glorify Jesus.
k. Let the provision God brings into your hands help carry the Gospel further.
5. Continue Until the Assignment Is Fulfilled.
a. Hebrews 6:12 KJV –– That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
b. Joshua 18:3 KJV –– And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?
c. There came a point when Joshua challenged the tribes that had not yet taken possession of their allotted inheritance.
d. We must be faithful not only in beginning what God has called us to do, but also in continuing to follow through until the assignment is completed.
e. Faith and patience inherit the promises.
f. Keep believing, obeying, sowing, and serving.
g. Continue in the responsibility God has entrusted to you.
h. Do not become discouraged if you don’t see results immediately.
i. Do not strive in your own strength, but rest in His promises and His ability (Heb 4:9-11).
j. Joshua 21:45 KJV –– There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
k. The Lord is faithful and He always keeps His Word.
l. As we are faithful to obey Him, we can trust Him to be faithful to His promises.
m. As we move through into 2027, we must keep our hearts tender, our faith active, and our lives available to the Holy Ghost.
