A Tribute To Mothers
Foundation Scripture:
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Proverbs 31:28 KJV
1. The Gift of Motherhood.
a. Mothers are one of Heaven’s greatest gifts to the earth.
b. A godly mother shapes generations, carries burdens no one sees, prays prayers no one hears, and pours out love that reflects the very heart of God.
c. Today we honor mothers.
d. Natural mothers.
e. Spiritual mothers.
f. Grandmothers.
g. Women who have nurtured, prayed, protected, taught, and stood faithful through every season.
h. The Bible is filled with the stories of women whose faith changed history.
2. A Mother Carries Life Before the World Ever Sees It.
a. Mary, the mother of Jesus.
b. Luke 1:38a KJV –– And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.
c. Before Jesus was presented to the world, He was first carried by a mother.
d. God entrusted eternity into the hands of a woman.
e. Mothers carry vision.
f. They carry promise.
g. They carry destiny before anyone else recognizes it.
h. There are mothers in the Kingdom who have carried children through many battles.
i. They faced the challenges of sickness, hardship, financial pressure, tears, spiritual battles, or sleepless nights.
j. And yet they kept believing God.
k. A mother often suffers silently while standing strongly.
3. A Mother’s Faith Shapes Generations.
a. Eunice and Lois.
b. 2 Timothy 1:5 NKJV –– …I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.
c. The faith of a mother does not stop with one generation.
d. Prayers outlive the one who prayed them.
e. A praying mother can change: a home; a city; a church; a nation.
f. Many people stand in pulpits today because somewhere there was a mother praying.
g. Some mothers may feel unseen.
h. But Heaven records every prayer.
i. And the Lord remembers every sacrifice.
4. Mothers Build What the Enemy Tries to Destroy.
a. Psalms 127:1a KJV –– Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.
b. The enemy attacks homes because he fears what can come out of them.
c. Mothers are builders:
- builders of character
- builders of faith
- builders of peace
- builders of stability
d. In a world filled with confusion, godly mothers become anchors of truth.
e. The culture may shift.
f. Society may redefine values.
g. But a mother rooted in God becomes a steady voice in an unstable generation.
5. Mothers Reflect the Heart of God.
a. Isaiah 66:13a KJV –– As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you.
b. God Himself compares His comfort to the comfort of a mother.
c. A mother’s embrace reflects:
- compassion
- mercy
- patience
- tenderness
- protection
d. No wonder the enemy fights mothers so fiercely.
e. Because motherhood reveals something sacred about the nature of God.
6. Spiritual Mothers Matter Too.
a. Not every mother has given birth naturally, but many women have mothered spiritually.
b. There are women who:
- disciple others
- mentor younger women
- pray for prodigals
- encourage the broken
- stand beside ministers and families
- help build the church
c. Titus 2:3–5 speaks of older women teaching younger women.
d. The Kingdom advances because faithful women continue to pour into the next generation.
e. We recognize that revival is not carried by men alone.
f. God has always used strong, Spirit-filled women who were willing to pray, serve, stand, and believe God for another generation.
7. God Rewards Faithful Mothers.
a. Galatians 6:9 KJV –– And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
b. Some mothers feel weary from time to time, but this is your encouragement:
c. The Lord sees:
- every tear
- every unseen burden
- every prayer
- every sacrifice
- every meal prepared
- every late night
- every act of love
d. Nothing done for God and family is wasted.
e. The seeds you planted will produce a harvest.
8. Today We Say: Thank You to the Mothers.
a. Thank you for: your prayers; your strength; your endurance; your wisdom; your sacrifice; your love.
b. You have held families together in difficult seasons.
c. You have stood in faith when others gave up.
d. You have carried the atmosphere of peace into your homes.
e. And because of faithful mothers, generations will know God.
9. Prayer for Mothers.
Father, today we thank You for every mother. Strengthen them. Refresh them. Heal weary hearts. Restore joy where there has been heaviness. Honor their faithfulness openly. Bless their homes, children, grandchildren, and future generations. Let mothers arise with fresh strength and fresh fire from the Holy Ghost. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
“Her children rise up and call her blessed.”
Today we honor the mothers. And we thank God for every woman who helped shape lives for eternity.
