Foundation Scriptures:
But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. 24 Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that He has promised us — eternal life. 1 John 2:20-25 NKJV
1. God of Truth.
a. Deuteronomy 32:4 KJV –– He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
b. God is a God of Truth—it is who He is.
c. He is perfect, just, and righteous.
d. John 17:17 KJV –– Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
e. God’s Word is Truth.
f. His law and His commandments are Truth, and all His works are done in Truth (Ps. 33:4; 119:142; 151).
g. Everything that is the Truth is shown and proven in and through the Word of God.
h. Romans 3:4b AMPC –– Let God be found true though every human being is false and a liar.
i. Anything that contradicts God’s Word is a lie.
2. Jesus is the Truth.
a. John 14:6 AMPC –– Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.
b. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
c. The only way to the Father is by and through Jesus.
d. The Truth is that Jesus:
- Is the Son of God.
- Came in the flesh.
- Was born of a virgin.
- Died on the cross to pay the price for our sins.
- Rose from the dead so that we could be born again.
- Is coming back again.
- According to the Word of God, anyone who denies any of these facts is a liar.
3. Spirit of Truth.
a. You have an unction, an anointing, from the Holy Spirit.
b. Those who are born again and spirit-filled have received the Truth into their hearts and they know what the Truth is.
c. The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Truth and proceeds from the Father (John 15:26).
d. John 16:13-15 NKJV –– However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
e. The Holy Spirit:
- Speaks the Truth.
- Guides us into the Truth.
- Does not speak on His own authority but speaks what He hears from the Father.
- Testifies of Jesus and honors and glorifies Him.
- Reveals, declares, and discloses Jesus—all that He is and all that is His.
- Reminds us of the words of Jesus.
- Foretells things to come.
4. The Devil is a Liar.
a. John 8:44 AMPC –– You are of your father, the devil, and it is your will to practice the lusts and gratify the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and the father of lies and of all that is false.
b. The devil is a liar and the father (originator) of all lies.
c. There is no truth in him at all.
d. Everything he says is a lie and everything he does is false.
e. The devil, the god of this world (this world’s system), blinds people’s eyes to the Truth of the Gospel with lies (2 Cor. 4:4).
f. The spirit that denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist spirit.
5. Believe in Jesus Christ.
a. 1 John 5:10-12 NKJV –– He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
b. God, Himself, testifies that Jesus is His Son and that eternal life is available through Him, and only through Him.
c. When you believe in Jesus Christ, your own heart witnesses that He is who He says He is.
d. Whoever denies the Son, denies the Father, and makes God out to be a liar—and it is impossible for God to lie (Heb. 6:18).
e. But if we believe His testimony, we will have and enjoy eternal life through Him.
f. We will become joyful partakers of His abundant life.
