Flourishing in Giving and Receiving

Foundation Scriptures:
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; 15 To shew that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. Psalm 92:12-15 KJV
[Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality] and [rich in the] verdure [of trust, love, and contentment]. Psalm 92:14 AMPC
1. Fat and Flourishing.
b. And the word “flourishing,” means to grow and spread and increase—to be fresh; green; verdant; new, luxuriant; flourishing; prosperous.
c. Together, fat and flourishing can be taken to mean:
d. "…they will be fertile and full of growth."
e. "…always green and strong.”
f. “...fair and desirable."
g. "...vital and green."
h. “…full of life and vitality".
i. “…they shall still multiply; and continue prosperous."
j. “…their lives are rich and productive...”
k. One Bible version reads:
l. “…and even when advanced in years they shall, like tall and sturdy trees, bring forth good fruit for years to come."
2. You Will Flourish.
a. Psalms 72:7a KJV - In his days shall the righteous flourish
b. This verse is prophetic concerning the Messiah’s Kingdom.
c. His blood-bought children, who serve Him in righteousness, will flourish.
d. They will grow and flourish in every area of life.
e. Proverbs 14:11 KJV - The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
f. Proverbs 14:11 ERV - An evil person's house will be destroyed, but a good person's family will do well.
g. Your house and your family will flourish.
3. Flourish Like the Palm Tree.
a. Psalms 92:12 KJV - The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree
b. Psalms 92:12 AMPC - The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]
c. Long life.
d. Honor, trust and respect.
e. Upright.
f. Useful.
g. Fruitful.
4. The Cheerful Generous Giver Will Flourish.
a. Proverbs 11:28 AMPC - He who leans on, trusts in, and is confident in his riches shall fall, but the [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like a green bough.
b. Trust in material possessions leads only to failure.
c. Obedience to the Word of God concerning giving leads to blessing, increase and fruitfulness.
d. Psalms 112:1-10
e. He delights in God’s commandments—using wisdom and discretion.
f. He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
g. He is a generous giver—distributing freely, lending, and showing favor.
h. Wealth and riches; prosperity and welfare; shall be in his house.
i. His children and grandchildren are blessed and influential.
j. Light in the darkness—help when he needs it.
k. He is not afraid of bad news nor moved by temporary circumstances.
l. His heart is fixed and established—trusting in the Lord.
m. His righteousness endures forever—eternal impact.
n. 2 Corinthians 9:9
5. Flourish in Giving and Receiving.
a. Philippians 4:10-19
b. Philippians 4:10 KJV - But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
c. Flourished: to shoot up; sprout again; grow green again; flourish again.
d. Philippians 4:10 AMPC - I was made very happy in the Lord that now you have revived your interest in my welfare after so long a time…
e. Philippians 4:14 AMPC - But it was right and commendable and noble of you to contribute for my needs and to share my difficulties with me.
f. Philippians 4:17-19 AMPC - Not that I seek or am eager for [your] gift, but I do seek and am eager for the fruit which increases to your credit [the harvest of blessing that is accumulating to your account]. 18 g. But I have [your full payment] and more; I have everything I need and am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent me. [They are the] fragrant odor of an offering and sacrifice which God welcomes and in which He delights. 19 And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
h. As we flourish in our giving, so, we have God’s promise that we will flourish and prosper in every area of life.
