Seed to the Sower and Bread to the Eater

Foundation Scriptures:
For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:10-11 AMPC
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness). 2 Corinthians 9:10 KJV
1. God is the Source.
b. God gives the seed.
c. God gives the bread.
d. God sends the rain.
e. God gives the increase.
f. God gives us the ability to sow.
g. God causes what is sown to multiply.
h. 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 AMPC - I planted, Apollos watered, but God [all the while] was making it grow and [He] gave the increase…
i. God is the One Who makes it grow and become greater.
j. We must never forget where our provision comes from.
k. Deuteronomy 8:18 AMPC - But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth…
l. Everything we have ultimately comes from the hand of God.
2. God Gives Both Seed and Bread.
a. There is a difference between seed and bread.
b. Bread is for eating; for your needs.
c. Seed is for sowing.
d. God does not merely give us enough to survive.
e. He supplies something for today and something to sow toward tomorrow.
f. 2 Corinthians 9:8 KJV - And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.
g. 2 Corinthians 9:11 AMPC - Thus you will be enriched in all things and in every way, so that you can be generous…
h. God’s provision has purpose.
i. His provision is for today and for tomorrow.
j. Your seed is:
k. Seed for the Kingdom.
l. Seed for someone else’s need.
m. Seed for your future harvest.
n. Recognize the difference between what should be consumed and what should be sown.
3. God Gives Seed to the Sower.
a. There are two different words, translated “seed” in 2 Corinthians 9:10.
b. God supplies the seed (Greek-Sperma): the seed i.e. the grain or kernel which contains within itself the germ of the future plants—this is the potential.
c. God multiplies your seed that is sown (Greek-Sporos): a sowing; seed (used in sowing); a scattering (of seed)—this is the activation.
d. A seed cannot multiply unless it is sown into the ground or some kind of soil.
e. A sower does not merely possess seed—a sower releases it.
f. The more faithful you are with what He puts into your hands, the more He can entrust to you.
g. The seed that is sown is the seed that can and will be multiplied.
h. We are responsible for sowing the seed; the Lord is the One Who multiplies it.
i. We are dependent on Him.
j. Unless we have His blessing, there is no guarantee.
k. Under the curse, Deuteronomy 28:38 says, Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
l. But under the blessing of our covenant, we have His promise:
m. Zechariah 8:12 KJV - For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew.
n. Establish a lifestyle of giving.
o. Do not merely sow occasionally.
p. Become a sower of seed.
4. Never Eat Your Seed.
a. Deuteronomy 14:22 KJV - Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
b. If the farmer eats everything he harvests, there will be nothing to plant for the next season.
c. Seed has potential inside it, but that potential is only released when the seed is sown.
d. John 12:24 AMPC - I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains [just one grain; it never becomes more but lives] by itself alone. But if it dies, it produces many others and yields a rich harvest.
e. A seed sitting in your hand remains a seed.
f. A seed planted in good ground has the potential to become a harvest.
g. You cannot continually consume everything God places in your hands and expect multiplication.
h. If you are unsure, ask the Lord: “What is my bread, and what is my seed?”
i. Ecclesiastes 11:6 AMPC - In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening withhold not your hands…
j. Sow your seed and trust God with your harvest.
k. Isaiah 30:23 AMPC - Then will He give you rain for the seed with which you sow the soil, and bread grain from the produce of the ground, and it will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will feed in large pastures.
