Foundation Scriptures:

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Romans 8:35–37 KJV

1. More Than Conquerors.

a. This is not just an encouraging word, it is a victorious declaration!

b. It does not say we “might” be conquerors.

c. It says we are more than conquerors.

d. This is not because of our own strength, wisdom, or ability, but “through Him that loved us.”

e. Jesus is the Conqueror — He defeated sin, death, hell, the grave, and every power of darkness.

f. We share in His victory, but we go beyond sharing — we are MORE than conquerors.

2. Jesus — The Great Conqueror.

a. Before we understand what “more than conquerors” means, we must see Jesus Christ as the Conqueror:

-  Over Sin: 1 John 3:8 — For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

-  Over Death: Revelation 1:18 — I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore…

-  Over the World: John 16:33 — …be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

-  Over Satan: Colossians 2:15 — And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

b. When Jesus died and rose again, the victory was total and irreversible.

c. He didn’t just survive the battle — He crushed the enemy.

3. More Than Conquerors — What Does It Mean?

a. 1 Corinthians 15:57 KJV — But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

b. A conqueror defeats the enemy.

c. But being more than a conqueror means:

-  The victory is already won before we even fight.

-  We don’t fight FOR victory; we fight FROM victory (1 Cor. 15:57).

-  We benefit from a battle we didn’t win ourselves.

-  Jesus fought and won, and we enjoy the spoils.

-  The enemy’s defeat works for our good.

-  Every trial, attack, or hardship is turned into a testimony (Romans 8:28).

-  Our victory is permanent.

d. A conqueror might win one battle but lose another.

e. We have an eternal victory.

f. 2 Corinthians 2:14 KJV — Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ.

g. Imagine a champion boxer wins a fight and earns the prize money.

h. He’s the conqueror.

i. When he gives the prize to his wife — she did not fight, but she enjoys the reward — she is more than a conqueror.

j. That’s what Jesus did for us.

4. How We Live as More Than Conquerors.

a. Being “more than a conqueror” is not just a title — it’s a way of living.

b. We Stand in Unshakable Love.

-  Romans 8:38–39 — Nothing can separate us from Christ’s love.

-  We face battles knowing we are already loved and secure.

c. We Face Trials Without Fear.

-  Isaiah 41:10 — Fear thou not; for I am with thee…

-  Our courage comes from knowing the outcome is already decided.

d. We Use the Enemy’s Attacks for God’s Glory.

-  Joseph told his brothers in Genesis 50:20 — But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good…

-  Every battle becomes a testimony of God’s power.

e. We Keep Our Eyes on the Eternal Prize.

-  Paul didn’t just survive his race; he finished with a crown.

-  2 Timothy 4:7-8 NKJV — I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

-  We live with Heaven in view, knowing the victory leads to eternal glory.

5. Why We Can Always Be Victorious.

a. Because of His Love — His love never fails (Jer. 31:3).

b. Because of His Power — All authority in Heaven and earth belongs to Him (Matt. 28:18).

c. Because of His Presence — He promised to never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5–6).

d. Because of His Finished Work — On the cross, Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30).

e. Being “more than a conqueror” doesn’t mean we won’t face battles — it means the outcome of every battle is already decided in our favor.

-  In trouble — He is our peace.

-  In loss — He is our reward.

-  In weakness — He is our strength.

-  In death — He is our resurrection.

6. In All These Things.

a. Romans 8:37 says it plainly: …in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

b. We live in His victory, not our own.

c. And because He will never lose, neither will we.

d. Rest in His victory — stop striving to earn what’s already won.

e. Stand in His Word — declare the promises over every situation.

f. Share His victory — let your testimony encourage others who are in the fight.
