Foundation Scripture:

2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV –– And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

1. His Grace is Sufficient.

a. The grace of God—His favor and loving-kindness and mercy is sufficient (enough).

b. God’s grace is sufficient because it enables and empowers you to be strong, even when you feel or seem weak.

c. With His sufficiency, it is as if you are possessed of an unfailing strength.

d. His grace acts as a defense—raising a barrier—both to defend you and to ward off danger.

e. This word, “sufficient,” is also translated as “content.”

f. No matter our circumstances, we can lean on God’s grace, and be content, as we trust in Him to carry us through the difficult times.

2. Contented in His Sufficiency.

a. Philippians 4:11-13 AMPC –– Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am. 12 I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want. 13 I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].

b. We see here how Paul learned, through experience, to trust the grace of God in his life.

c. Despite the challenges he endured, he walked in supernatural peace and contentment.

d. He learned that the Lord would always sustain him and never let him down.

e. His circumstances did not move him.

f. He knew that God was with him and for him.

g. His strength was in Christ, Who empowered him.

h. He was self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency.

3. Do Not Be Anxious.

a. Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV –– Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

b. Do not allow anything to make you feel anxious.

c. Rather go to God in prayer.

d. In a spirit of faith and thanksgiving, make your requests to the Father in Jesus’ Name.

e. The peace that God gives, surpasses all understanding.

f. God’s peace can be yours in the middle of your situation, and despite your situation.

g. It does not make sense to the natural mind, and yet His peace can fill your entire being.

h. His peace is protection—it will guard your heart and your mind.

i. When we are constantly stressed and anxious, it takes a toll on our body and our mind.

j. Constant stress can lead to illness and disease.

k. God’s grace and peace is the best prevention against stress—it can lengthen your life.

l. Proverbs 3:1-2 KJV –– My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

4. Do Not Fight Your Own Battles.

a. People unnecessarily hold onto fears and offenses and unforgiveness.

b. They don’t realize that it flows out of a lack of trust in God.

c. You are fighting battles, your own battles, instead of humbling yourself before God, acknowledging your weakness and inability to let these things go, and allowing Him to touch you, to carry you, and to fight your battles for you.

d. When you begin to trust God’s love for you and you surrender to Him and allow His grace to carry you, you will see a breakthrough.

e. Stop trying to be strong in your own strength.

f. Your weakness is your independence.

g. Rather, surrender every area to the Lord.

h. When you stop fighting, when you become “weak,” the Lord becomes your strength.

i. You change your focus from the negative, the battles you fight, the challenges you face.

j. You place it all in God’s hands, trusting Him to carry you, direct you, and make a way for you, and protect you and deal with your enemies.

5. Focus.

a. Focus on the good.

b. Focus on the positive.

c. Focus on fulfilling the call of God on your life.

d. His grace is sufficient for you—believe it and act like it.

e. Direct your energies to faith—to do what you’re called to do, trusting God to take care of the rest.

f. God is not responsible for all the situations you face.

g. The enemy is resisting you, but God will give you the wisdom and the tools to face and deal with and/or change, every situation.

h. God’s grace is sufficient for you.
