Foundation Scripture:
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. Revelation 17:14 KJV
1. Those That Are with Him.
a. The battles we face in life are not natural, carnal battles, but spiritual battles.
b. If we can win the spiritual battles, we will conquer the natural ones.
c. In the end of days, there will be a mighty spiritual battle in which Jesus Christ will be the ultimate Victor.
d. Satan and demon powers will be utterly vanquished.
e. In one battle, the Bible mentions those who accompany the Lamb.
f. They are those who are “called and chosen and faithful.”
2. Called.
a. Matthew 22:14 KJV –– For many are called, but few are chosen.
b. “Called” means to be invited, as in “invited to a banquet.”
c. We are called, or invited, by God, through the proclamation of the Gospel, to obtain eternal salvation in the Kingdom through Christ.
d. God is not willing that anyone should perish, but that all should hear the Gospel and have an opportunity to repent and respond (2 Pet. 3:9).
e. Therefore, we could say that God has divinely selected, appointed, and invited every person to be saved, but they must choose Him to receive the benefits He offers.
3. Chosen.
a. Many are called but few are chosen.
b. You could also say: “many are called, but few choose; or few make the choice.”
c. The word “chosen” means “to be picked out or selected.”
d. It also means “choice, select, i.e. the best of its kind or class; excellence preeminent.”
e. Saul of Tarsus was resisting God and the call on his life.
f. But when he had a supernatural encounter with the King of kings and Lord of lords on the road to Damascus, he made a choice to serve God and accept His call.
g. Jesus called Paul a “chosen vessel, or chosen instrument, of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.”
h. He also added: “For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake” (Acts 9:15-16).
i. When Jesus calls and chooses us, He does not paint a rosy picture of what we may have to face.
j. He is clear about the fact that there will be opposition, persecution, and even suffering to be endured.
k. Jesus, and the Gospel, are not the source of the suffering, but they are the reason for it.
l. Remember, it is a spiritual battle against the evil forces of darkness.
m. So, when we choose to serve, follow, and obey God, we must also make the decision to fully and faithfully execute our mission, no matter the cost.
n. When we keep our eye on the victory and the prize, and remember what we are fighting for, then we can remain strong, steady, and faithful (Php. 3:14).
o. Do not take your eyes off the prize!
4. Faithful to the Lord.
a. A faithful person is one who keeps their word, is worthy of trust, and who can be relied upon.
b. A faithful person is one who shows themselves faithful in the transaction of business, the execution of commands, or the discharge of official duties.
c. To be faithful to the Lord means loving Him with undivided loyalty and obedience.
d. It is obedience to His Word: Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15).
e. Faithfulness is shown by daily obedience and aligning our lives with His teaching.
f. It is to be enduring in devotion: Paul commended believers for “continuing in the faith, grounded and steadfast” (Col. 1:23).
g. Faithfulness means we do not drift away but remain constant in our walk with Christ.
h. Remaining loyal under pressure: “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Rev. 2:10).
i. True faithfulness is tested in trials, persecution, and temptations.
5. Faithful to the Gospel.
a. Being faithful to the Gospel means:
b. Holding fast to the truth: Paul urged Timothy to “guard the good deposit entrusted to you” (2 Tim. 1:14).
c. We don’t water down or change the message to fit culture or convenience.
d. Proclaiming it boldly: Paul said, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation” (Rom. 1:16).
e. Faithfulness means declaring it clearly and without compromise.
f. Living it out: “Let your manner of life be worthy of the Gospel of Christ” (Php. 1:27).
g. Our lives should match the message we preach.
6. Faithful to the Cause of Christ.
a. The cause of Christ is His mission—to seek and save the lost, to build His Church, and to make disciples of all nations.
b. Jesus gave us the Great Commission to fulfill His mission (Matt. 28:19–20; Mark 16:15-18).
c. Faithfulness means we participate in this mission, which we do through going, sending, praying, and/or supporting.
d. Sacrificial service: Paul testified, “I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the Gospel” (Acts 20:24).
e. Faithfulness involves personal sacrifice for the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom.
f. Unity with fellow believers: Philippians 1:27 also speaks of “standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.”
g. Faithfulness to the cause of Christ includes working together, not competing, for the progress of His Kingdom.
h. To be faithful to the cause of Christ is to give ourselves to His mission, sacrifice for His work, and labor with His people until He comes again.
i. When that Day comes, will we be shown to be the “called, chosen, and faithful?”
