Making Room for the Anointing

A Call to Consecration

Foundation Scripture: 2 Kings 4:8–11 (NKJV)

Now it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a notable woman, and she persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food. And she said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall, and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.”

And it happened one day that he came there, and he turned into the upper room and lay down there.

  1. Consecration Precedes Visitation.

Before the glory comes—there must be consecration. Before the outpouring—there must be emptying. Before the fire falls—there must be a sacrifice.

a. Purity. Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. You can’t fill what’s already full. Empty yourself of resentment, pride, distraction, and fear.

b. Priority. Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Clear your calendar. Cancel the excuses. October 19–26 belongs to the Holy Ghost.

c. Presence. Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Stillness creates sensitivity. God moves where He’s welcomed, not rushed. Declaration: “Make room — He’s coming to stay!”

  1. Honor Creates Habitation.

She perceived the anointing, treated it as holy, and responded with honor. Honor is the magnet for the anointing; dishonor shuts down Heaven.

a. Recognize the Holy. Mark 6:5–6 (NKJV) Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. What you treat as common will never carry glory.

b. Build for His Presence. She built:   • A bed – rest in His presence.   • A table – fellowship with His Word.   • A stool – authority and dominion.   • A lamp – illumination and revelation.

c. Honor Unlocks the Miraculous. 2 Kings 4:32–35 (NKJV) When Elisha came into the house, there was the child, lying dead on his bed. He went in therefore, shut the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the Lord. And he went up and lay on the child… then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. Declaration: “I will honor the anointing!”

  1. Make a Permanent Room, Not a Guest Room.

The Shunammite didn’t give the prophet a couch—she built him a chamber. Many people want God to visit; few build a place for Him to dwell. God doesn’t rent; He resides. He doesn’t visit; He inhabits.

a. God’s Presence Demands Permanence. John 14:23 (NKJV) Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”

b. The Glory Fills What’s Prepared. 2 Chronicles 5:13–14 (NKJV) Indeed, it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one… that the house was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.

c. A Permanent Room Carries Resurrection Power. The room you build in obedience today will raise the dead tomorrow. Declaration: “This is not just another conference — this is life and death!”

Altar Call – Clear The Room.

Pray aloud: “Lord, I make room. I clear out the clutter. I dedicate this week to You. Fill this temple. Fill this house. Let Your glory dwell here, not visit here.”

Closing Charge.

You will not miss this move of God. You will not be distracted, divided, or deceived. You will be full of the Holy Ghost and fire. You’ve made room.
