God Has Been Good – Part Two

Foundation Scriptures:
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13 KJV
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Psalms 27:13 NKJV
1. God is Good.
a. God is good because that is His nature.
b. The enemy would like you to focus on what has gone wrong.
c. But God wants you to remember what He has brought you through.
d. God has been good; God has been faithful.
e. Psalms 33:4-5 NKJV –– For the word of the Lord is right, And all His work is done in truth. 5 He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
2. A Righteous Man Gets Back Up.
a. Proverbs 24:16 NKJV –– For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
b. A righteous man may fall, but he gets back up.
c. Not so the wicked.
d. Just because you are a Christian does not mean you will not have opposition or battles to face.
e. The Christian life is not the absence of battles.
f. The Christian life is victory through battles.
g. The righteous may stumble, face setbacks, or experience disappointment, but they rise again!
h. The enemy wants you to stay down, but the Lord says: get back up.
i. Micah 7:8 AMPC –– Rejoice not against me, O my enemy! When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me.
j. No matter what we face, the Lord has the answer and the way of escape for us, if we trust and obey Him.
k. Your failure is not final, and your setback is not permanent.
l. Get back up and keep moving forward.
3. The Lord Delivers Out of Them All.
a. Psalms 34:19 KJV –– Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
b. Psalms 34:19 AMPC –– Many evils confront the [consistently] righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
c. The Bible never promises a life without trials, but it does promise deliverance.
d. Notice it says: the Lord delivers out of them ALL—not some; not most; but ALL.
e. The same God who delivered you yesterday will deliver you today.
f. The same God who delivers today will deliver tomorrow.
g. 2 Samuel 22:2b KJV –– The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer.
4. What Would Have Become of Me Had I Not Believed?
a. Psalms 27:13-14 AMPC –– [What, what would have become of me] had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living! 14 Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.
b. David understood something powerful: God is good and God is faithful.
c. When a righteous man (or woman) puts their hope and trust in God, and when they believe and expect that they will see the Lord’s goodness here and now, in this lifetime—they will not be disappointed.
d. The Lord will come through for them.
e. What kept David going through all his trials and challenges?
f. He believed.
g. What kept him from quitting?
h. He believed.
i. What kept him from fainting?
j. He believed he would see God’s goodness.
k. Not in Heaven someday—but in the land of the living.
l. There are people today who are still standing because they believed God.
m. There are people alive today because they believed God.
n. There are people victorious today because they believed God.
o. Never stop believing.
5. Do Not Waver or Be Double-Minded.
a. Nahum 1:7 KJV –– The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
b. God knows you and He watches over you.
c. He is looking for believers who are fully persuaded.
d. Romans 4:21 KJV –– And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
e. Abraham became strong in faith because he believed God’s promise.
f. The Lord wants you (like Abraham) to be fully persuaded, fully convinced, and fully satisfied and assured—that He is able and mighty to keep His Word and to do what He has promised.
g. James warns us that, “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” (James 1:8 KJV).
h. A double-minded man is one who is divided in interests—between God and the world.
i. He is a man who vacillates between opinions because he has not put his trust fully in God and His Word.
j. So, do not be double-minded.
k. Commit yourself to God and His Word.
l. Refuse to waver or to be moved by circumstances.
m. Stand firm on His promises.
n. You can rejoice in God’s promise, His goodness, and His faithfulness, and know and declare: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever” (Psalm 23:6).
